I don't know how you feel about it, but you were male in your last earthly incarnation. You were born somewhere in the territory of modern North Japan around the year 1600. Your profession was that of a jeweler or watch-maker.
Your brief psychological profile in your past life: Such people are always involved with all new. You have always loved changes, especially in art, music, cooking.
The lesson that your last past life brought to your present incarnation: Your lesson is to learn discretion and moderation and then to teach others to do the same. Your life will be happier if you help those who lack reasoning.
My disco Fancy friend needs a LaserVibe system. It hooks up to any music system from an MP3 player to a stereo system or even your PC and moves a laser beam around the room to the beat of the music. It's like a disco in your house. We could use something like this for our themed Burning Man camp!
Have you ever gotten a cart at the grocery store that had the previous users list still in it? I have, and apparently so have many others. GroceryLists.org has a whole collection of them that you can view. This is the world's largest online collection of found grocery lists, and they even have a book coming out in May 2007. Do you see yours on there?
As a programmer I get stuck from time to time on something and I need a second pair of eyes to look at it. After 12 hour days of coding everything starts to blur together. Even the smallest mistake can take me 10 minutes just to find it. I normally will call over another programmer in my department to take a look at it, but there is also this CodeCall Programming Forum that has a lot of helpful people in it. And many of the experts on the forum can help anyone with programming problems free. They have CSS and AJAX, but it would be nice to see them add PERL, RUBY, and a few others.
So here I sat all night long Friday night and I finally hit level 60 on World of Warcraft! YEAH! I played until almost noon on Saturday then decided I better get some sleep. I woke up later that night and the harddrive on my laptop died. It's either a sign that I should stop playing now, or my girlfriend sabotaged it so I would stop playing now. Hmmmm...
For years I had two computers sitting at my desk, both with a monitor each. That was fine because one of my boxes was and will always be a flavor of unix (for now I'm settled on FreeBSD) and could live with a crappy monitor. I ssh'd in to the box anyways so my second monitor was almost always off. Of course, you could swap out some part of your computer for something bigger and faster every six months, but monitors tend to stick around. So I ended up with two pretty sweet monitors on my desk. About that time, windows started supporting dual monitors out of the box and that changed how I worked with two sweet monitors on my machine. Now my poor FreeBSD box was just sitting there with no head. Not too bad of a problem; every once in a while I would have to go behind my desk and plug in a monitor. I finally broke down and got a KVM switch so I would have to be going back there all the time. In an effort to bring down Microsoft's strangle hold on the PC, the unix community started sprucing up their OSs. That included X. I was torn again. I wanted to use ONE keyboard and ONE mouse to access everything, across two monitors not having to use press a button to switch. I think I found a problem to my woes. A USB to KVM input.
All I have to do is plug the USB part of the KVM2USB into my windows box with both monitors, and plug in the KVM outs to the other side. As seen here on the KVM2USB Technical Specifications page and BAM, I get a monitor with my windows box and my unix box thinks it's the real thing. Now I can live in both worlds.
I'm very use to hitting my Prt Scr button and pasting it into a new image in Photo Shop when I want to capture a screen shot. I had heard about Snagit 8 Screen Capture Software from a friend at work and decided to download the free 30 day trial and try it out. It's really easy to use as all you do it open the software up, mouse over the window you want to screen capture then left click. It opens immediately in the software and then you just save the png file and you are done. Here is my first capture.
HAHAHAHA! This site is awesome! Call In Sick.com! Call-in-Sick is a revolutionary new FREE service that allows you to call in your sick message to your boss or employer from anywhere, any time. I will have to add this number to my phone for those days, or mornings, when I'm stuck in the casino and I just can't quite make it to work ;)
Oh man, have you see this new site Sell with your cell phone ... Cell)))it?? It's a new website helping individuals and merchants sell with video! No more looking at static pictures of things you want to buy! See it on video from all angles! I am really digging this site right now! Look at this $36,000 Bentley 1990 Turbo R 4 Dr Sedan. Oh yeah, that's what I'm talking about!
I heard the news talking about Mesothelioma and I had no idea what it was. Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that develops in the tissues of cells that line the lungs, heart and stomach. It seems like there is a new cancer everyday :(
Harvard and South Florida University have been following around a few students since 1988 and found that teenage males who binge drink earn more as adults, a whole 6% more! Now, my binge drinking stint was at the beginning of my career (how else can you afford all that jager?) but I think some of the social aspects of drinking did follow through. At my last job, my boss proclaimed that I was the most social programmer he had ever met just after we walked up to the bar and I stuck up a conversation with the bar keep. Of course, the nicer you are to the keepers of the water of life, the more likely you'll get your drinks faster and on the cheap.
Now I wonder how much of my paycheck is from all the video games I played as a kid! If it wasn't for spending days infront of my TV trying to rescue the princess I don't think I would be able to track down that missing semi-colon. Or how about smoking? So many problems are solved while hanging out with a few of my coworkers just talking about the problem. Who knew all my "bad" habits is how I got where I am today!
My girlfriend has the hottest belly button ring. I love playing with it. She has recently been looking online to get another one and I helped her find some cool belly button rings on AllPiercings.com. This Black Hearts of Fire would fit her personality perfect! I think I will order that for her for Christmas. Shhhhhh ;)
Added a gallery. It sucks trying to upload and link tons of pictures on a wiki, so I just found some picture gallery software and now I'm off and running. There isn't much on it at the moment, but I'll fill it up!
VegasPokerPro features free poker tournaments, an active community forum, and reviews of online poker sites. They also give you free poker gift promotions. When you sign up for any of the online poker rooms you can choose what free gift you'd like to receive such as free poker chip set, free poker table, free gift cards from places like Best Buy, or free VPP points to start your account. One of my favorite sections on the site is the Poker Strategy page that gives you tips on how to play such games as Texas Hold'em as a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player. This is a great way to learn the game before sitting down at a live table or joining an online poker tournament. My favorite game is Texas Hold'em and their tips and tricks are right on the money.
Party Poker.com is one of the many sites they review. They tell you all about the exclusive 20% signup bonus up to $100 for VegasPokerPro.com users. VegasPokerPro offer reviews of the site from their software and interface, their tournament action, and even their customer service. It's a great way to get the scoop about online gaming sites before you sign up.
So if you've ever considered online gaming I suggest you check out VegasPokerPro.com first to take advantage of all their help.
Remember when Ken Jennings won 74 straight games and won $2,520,700 on Jeopardy back in 2004? His tell all book came out this week and he had to lie to his family and friends about what he was doing the whole time the show was running. You can read more of the story here.
I love to download music and videos and I found a new site to do just that at. Singingfool.com offers a huge collection of music and videos that you can download anytime you want to. You can add video codes to your profile to show off your personality, and unsigned bands can upload their stuff to get the word out about their music!
Here is the latest Weird Al Yankovic's music video I found at Julie's Journal. It's called White & Nerdy. Was he following me around one day to get ideas for his new video?
Yes, I'm addicted to World of Warcraft. I'm a level 58 Undead Warlock. I found this site, www.warcraftunderground.com that has great World of Warcraft news, tips, tricks, secrets, and exploits. The site is laid out nice with good content on it. They are even hiring experienced WoW players to write content for their blog. Now there is a great way for me to make some extra money on the side.
WOW! Look at these nature pictures at MikeAsh.net. Unfortuneatly Mike passed away in 2004 but he left us with these amazing pictures of nature. He worked in electronics, primarily communications, and was injured on the job which disabled him. He bought a camera to mainly send pictures to friends and family, but he quickly realized that he had a fabulous talent.
Okay is anyone going to DigitalLife 2006 in New York City? I found a web site with a ticketing page where you can get a code to get free tickets instead of paying the regular price of $15.00! All the best of the industry will be there, Alienware, AMD, ATI, Best Buy, eBay, ESPN, Game Stop, Intel, Logitech, Maxim, Microsoft, NVIDIA, XBox, and many more. Stan Glasgow President and Chief Operating Officer of Sony Electronics will be speaking as well. Everyone knows I'm a Sony consumer buyer.
Just go to the ticketing page and enter the code, "INSIDER" and you will get your free tickets. ENJOY the convention!
HA! This is a great site, Great Outdoors Dudes. Each "dude" is labeled with their specialty and when you click on them it takes you to an informative section on their topic. I am everyone of those dudes! Well maybe not the CPR dude, but all the other ones for sure!
I love my GPS. I use it for all kinds of things from Geocaching to just marking all the places we go camping and hiking. My friend Steve has a really nice one that came in his Chrysler 300. Sat nav from currys carry some super cool products I'd like to try. I like the TOMTOM GO 710 GPS Reciever the best. It has 3D map view and spoken instructions. Just what I need, another woman telling me how to drive ;) It has hands-free functionality that I can use with my Bluetooth-enabled phone. It also has an extra wide 4” LCD touchscreen along with a 400MHz Processor.
Oh I found a great site on how to create Firefox extensions. With my knowledge of javascript and XUL I should be able to pump these out all day if I set my mind to it. This site goes step by step with screenshots to help you along the way. I need to poll my friends and coworkers on what they would want as a Firefox plugin but can't seem to find it. Good times!
This monitor web visitors service might be kind of interesting to try for ecommerce sites. What it does is they monitor how your customers navigate through the website pages. They will personalize the offer and will send them an invitation to chat, then send them a requested web page link through the chat window to help them find the right page they are interested in. I'm curious to see it live on a website running.
I should get some new sunglasses soon. The pair I've worn for about a year now are starting to get crappy looking as the lenses are all scratched up. I should take better care of them but I don't. I am constantly leaving them at friend's houses, on my desk at work, or lying around somewhere. I found these cool Orange County Choppers Sunglasses endorsed by the one and only Paul Sr. and Paul Jr. from American Chopper. Man he is a hard ass! They are made out of billet aluminum and have a wrap around style to keep wind from bothering your eyes. Not quite my style, but still cool sunglasses.
I will probably get some Bolle Sunglasses as they are more my style, sporty and outdoorsy. They would certainly stand up to my abuse I would put them though. The Body Specs would be good for when I go rock climbing also. Body Specs use only the highest quality materials in the construction of each individual lens and frame allows Body Spec to create stylish and aggressive designs for cyclists, for golfers, for motorcyclist, for sky diving, and even bull riding. YES! I've always wanted a good pair of sunglasses for when I go bull riding.
Navel Fluff in Jars..."It was on the 17th of January 1984 that I found myself under-occupied in a youth hostel in Brisbane. The night was steamy and stormy - too wet outside and too hot inside to do very much, and my attention drifted to my belly button. There it was ... fluff! I must have seen it before that night, but this occasion was the first time I ever picked it out and wondered about it. I thought if I started collecting it, I'd eventually have enough to stuff a cushion, and so I stored my first piece of navel fluff in an empty film canister. The collection had begun."
I don't know man. I just kinda threw up in my mouth looking at the pictures.
Have you ever noticed a stream of sun light coming in through your window and how it's filled with crap floating in it? These airborne allergens can be asthma triggers, pollutants, dust mite skeletons & excrements, pollen, pet hair, and pet danger. We use ceiling fans but all it does is circulate that junk all through your house. I've heard that burning candles also helps, but I still see those particles floating by when the sun shines. My girlfriend's allergies have been going nuts lately. They get worse whenever she dust and vacuums. I feel so bad for her with her watery eyes and sneezing fits. I've been looking at ozone free air purifiers and I found this. The Airfree P80. It is said to incinerate 99.99% of all micro-organisms that are floating around in the air in your house. The way it works is contaminated air is dragged into Airfree’s P80 ceramic core by air convection and microorganisms are destroyed at high temperatures regardless of how resistant and dangerous they might be. I am very concerned with the environment so I was happy to read that there are no emissions, NO IONS, nor new particles are generated by using the Airfree P80.
I think she scored lower because her parents are divorced, and she has gone through a divorce. It's funny though because her life is sure more perfect with me than when she was married to her ex!
I watch so much TV. It's on all day long and no matter what I am doing I am always watching or listening to it in the background. We own two DVR's and they are filled with saved shows for later viewing. I found a good site today for TV Show Downloads. EliteTvDownloads.com is a new site giving you access to download unlimited TV shows. You can search for certain TV show episode downloads. They also have music and movies. The selection is amazing, over 90 million they advertise!!!
I like their TV articles about TV show genres, entertainment industry guides, and general interest concerning televsion. The The Progression of Comedy is my favorite.
So by now I'm sure you've all seen Brokeback Mountain. I really liked the movie and there is one line in the movie that I use quite often when talking to my girlfriend. "I Can't Quit You." It always makes her laugh.
Being the geek I am I found a 404 today on 404 Research Lab that makes reference to this line of the movie. Click here to see it :) (Make sure you have your volume on)
This past weekend was so nice here in Las Vegas. The temps actually dropped just enough to go outside and enjoy the day. I enjoyed the day by doing some yard work. Everything was nice and I was having a good time except fighting with the freaking garden hose that gets all tangled up and kinks just enough that no water comes out. I really need to invest in a hose reel to make my day in the garden more enjoyable and easy!
Recently at zappos.com we've been looking for an affiliate management person to run our CPC and PPC campaigns. It's been difficult finding a person with these skills, so I am going to show my boss the Apogee company that may be able to help us. I'm really impressed!
I'm an outside kinda guy. I love to camp, and hike, and recently I got into rock climbing. I found a good informational site called ironically rockclimbing.com. HEH. I'm a big tall guy and I know I need to get into better shape before I can get out there and do some serious climbing. This story was very inspiring for me.
"What he lacked in agility and speed he matched with determination and strength."
I have the worst back pain all the time and I'm fairly certain it is my chair that I use at my job. I am in front of a computer all day long, so a new chair would be really helpful I'm sure. It's always my lower back that hurts the most so a chair that gave me tailbone pressure relief would be perfect. I was looking around and found the coccyx chair. It was developed by an occupational therapist, a GP, an ergonomist, a research professor and a physiotherapist. This chair has a recess to eliminate pressure on the coccyx bone. It has been reviewed and called one of the best posture improving chair designs out there, with the thickest padding. It says it does take a day or two to get used to the positioning because you're using muscles you don't use on a normal chair every day. I guess I could always try it out at home first before taking it into my office. The price is just right also at $132.00 Euro. I could save that money in a couple months if I wasn't buying all the Motrin I need to relieve the pain in my back.
Day in and day out my job is to make the zappos.com web site the best it can be. For the user and the search engines. There is an SEO Austin company that knows exactly how to do this and they do it right! Check them out for making your ecommerce site successful on the internet.
Hey, did you fly kites when you were a kid? Man I miss those days. I found this cursor kite and I must have one now! But then again...think of all the other kinds we could build! The flying Windows logo, the Linux penguin...the possibilities are endless :)
Open Search List allows you to review lists of customized searches and develop your own customized searches. The searches can easily be added to your browser’s search toolbar without having to install toolbars. It will add searches to IE7 and Firefox 2. Popular searches are on home page such as You Tube, Google Lyrics, and Bit Torrent, and the last 5 searches are listed there as well. It's easy to add your own customized search or plugin.
1 bag of stir fry mix from produce section (it has broccoli, carrots, and sugar snap peas in the bag)
1 large onion, diced up in big pieces
2-3 stalks celery chuncky dice
1 small package mushrooms whole or sliced
garlic powder
salt & pepper to taste
1 can of beef broth
1 bottle teryaki sauce with garlic
soy sauce
corn starch
Brown beef in pot with a little oil. Add some salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Add onions and celery. If you don't use too much oil, you won't need to drain it off (it also flavors the stew really well). Saute with beef until just soft, but a little crunchy . Add all the other vegetables. Since those are prepackaged, you don't need to wash them. Add whole bottle of teryaki sauce, whole can of beef broth and add soy sauce to taste. Add enough water to just barely cover stew. Season again with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, if needed. Simmer until veggies are done to your taste. Take about a cup of water and add 6 tblsp of cornstarch. Stir very well till you have a very smooth liquid. add slowly to stew, you shouldn't need all of it. This will thicken you stew nicely. Heat back to a simmer and serve over rice.
I found a cool riddles site. They also have one of the largest databases of riddles. The Enigmas are pretty cool. You just solve a series of riddles and crack a difficult code that will lead you to one of three buried treasures. One of them have been found already and you can read their story here.
I was catching up on my LJ reading tonight and I just had to lmao when I read a flame war with the same douche bag in the middle as a previous incident I was involved in. They got him good...HAHAHA!
